Apparently the new E5-4600 v3 CPUs have been announced and the specs will be great for any virtual host. You can read more about it on Guru3D but the summary is that there are new Xeons coming out based on the Haswell architecture and they will range from 10-core to 18-core models, all with hyper-threading! So, in short, you could have 36 threads on one socket. Pretty awesome! Here’s a chart grabbed from Guru3D:
